Hello!
My name is Catherine Fitall and I am a certified teacher who will be helping your students! I have been in the classroom for 12 years and am bringing my specific skills to you to help either supplement your child's education, act as homework help, or provide a personalized curriculum for homeschooled families.
My Story
I have been in the classroom for 12 years and am looking to grow my experience and outreach outside the classroom. I have specialized in high school math and science and taught in resource and self-contained rooms for special education. As someone who went to high school overseas and has traveled extensively since then with Habitat for Humanity and as a solo traveler, I've been lucky enough to see many different teaching strategies and child rearing practices from multiple countries that have informed my teaching practice. I went to American University in Washington D.C. to receive my Bachelor's in biochemistry then immediately started teaching and working on my Master's degrees with Lesley University. I have a Master's in education with a specialty in Secondary Mathematics, and a Master's in Special Education with moderate disabilities K-12. I'm currently certified on a Michigan license for Mathematics 6-12, Learning Disabilities K-12, and Cognitively Impaired K-12. I currently work at a public high school in Michigan as a resource room teacher for special education. I have been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh for a doctorate in Special Education and am very excited to get started!
Notable achievements include creating a math curriculum that is used in two different schools, as well as revamping the math curriculum for special education at my current school. I have consistently raised scores on standardized tests every year. In addition, my special education students have been able to pass all general education classes with my co-teaching and individual support.
